AU-IBAR organises a Think Tank Meeting on the Formulation of an African Fisheries Policy Framework.

The meeting will be held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, from 4 to 6 June 2012, and is sponsored by the Spanish Cooperation.

The main objective of the meeting is to define the scope and nature of the African Fisheries Policy Framework, and will specifically aim at reaching consensus on the scope and nature of the Policy Framework, the role and responsibilities of each stakeholder during the process and the definition of a road map with clear and concrete milestones. It is anticipated that the African Fisheries Policy Framework shall constitute a 'blue-print' for realistic and coherent policy formulation by the AU Member States.

Participants to the meeting include representatives from the AU Member States, Regional Economic Communities, Development and Technical Partners, Regional Fisheries Bodies, Large Marine Ecosystem Projects and other Fisheries Programmes, Non-Governmental Organizations, Environmental organizations and Academia.
