Lake Tanganyika Day 2011 : "The Lake Tanganyika is not a dustbin: Let's protect the Lake and its Basin". The Lake Tanganyika Authority in collaboration with the Government of Burundi (Ministry of Water, Environment, Territory Management and Urbanization), the ACVE, UNDP/GEF Project, PRODAP, INECN, ABO, Pays de la Loire, PROSECEAU (GIZ) and IUCN, will celebrate the Lake Tanganyika Day from 21-23 July, 2011 at Bujumbura.

-      15. 15 - 16. 00: Ceremonies of handing-over of the prizes to environment competition winners

-      16. 00 - 17.00: Ceremony of handing-over of MWEZI GISABO prize to the 2 prize winners 2011 + presentation of MWEZI GISABO prize+ presentation of prize winners and their projects

-      18. 00: Departure of the parade of paddlers with lanterns towards SAGA PLAGE

SATURDAY 23/07: DAY OF COMMUNITY WORKS

Activities of the day:

  • Cleaning of the beach
  • Uprooting of the fresh water hyacinth
  • Gift of normalized nets to fishermen in exchange of the prohibited nets

-     10h30 - 12h00: Ceremonies of nets handing over
