The specific objective of the organization of this given conference is to put the Lake Tanganyika Basin in the spotlight and thus show the potential of this area might constitute a new pole of development extended to the pelvis, thus putting the same foot area of the Indian Ocean to the East and South East, the Lake Victoria Basin, the area of the Atlantic Ocean to the west and Southwest. This is specifically to:
- Highlight the potential of economic growth sectors in the Lake Tanganyika Basin which can both generate returns to investors and mutual benefit to the Basin  Member States and sustainable economic and social development;
- Identify  trade and investment opportunities as identified and provided by East African Community Partner States (EAC), Common Market for Eastern and Southern African ( COMESA) and the Community for Cooperation and the African Development Community (SADC) to potential investors;
- Promote the efficient exploration and natural resources management;
- Promote good water, environment, and flora and fauna management.
